Taiwan's democracy should not be restricted by China's opposition: Chen Shui-bian

DPP Legislator's aide detained in corrumption case
The China Post, TAIWAN - A senior aide to Legislator Lawrence J.P. Gao of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was detained yesterday for further investigation into his alleged role in a corruption case. Yao was charged with accepting a bribe of NT$10 million by brokering a deal between businessman Lou Tsao-yung's company and the National Property Bureau under the Ministry of Finance.
